A playful extension to the kitchen that turns cooking into a soundscape
Ljudkök is a playful extension to the kitchen that basically turns cooking into a soundscape. The system, which uses utensils as well as ingredients to make sounds, works in two ways. In the first instance, ingredients and utensils make sound during the cooking process, which can then be converted into music. Secondly, music scores are applied to actual recipes. The tones, rhythms and instruments of the Ljudkök are used to convey the differences in ingredient combinations and cooking techniques. Tasty, healthy recipes will result in a harmonious sound, while odd-matching herbs and vegetables, or unusual styles of preparing and cooking food, will give a more awkward sound.
